Consulate of Indonesia sponsors Batik Workshop at SM Lanang

Batik is a cloth that is traditionally made using a manual wax-resisting dyeing technique.Other regions of Indonesia have their own unique patterns that normally take themes from everyday lives, incorporating patterns such as flowers, nature, animals, folklore or people.
Last April 6, 2013 at the Atrium of SM Lanang Premiere, The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia shared the knowledge of creating such fabrics to the Davaoenos thru their successfully held Batik Workshop and Indocraft.
It was participated by various people from students to the middle-aged ones who are interested to leard the art of Batik making. We got to experience the basics from putting on the design on the fabric or wood up to putting on colors using dyes.
From sketches to fabrics
Maizy and I had a blast. Here's us showing our finish product
We also brought home certificates and some goodies.
It was indeed a very nice experience. But maybe my Batik-making needs a little bit of practice.
