As a nurse, it was always a responsibility to encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies. Breastfeeding is the most practical way to give nourishment to your kid. it has a lot of benefits such as strengthening the immune system of the baby and provides bonding to the mother and child. Plus, it's for free! And there's a lot more. Believe me i can provide you a gazillion of it coz i used to memorize all of it in college.
On
May of 2012, TIME Magazine released a Mother's day special issue. On
the cover featured a mother (Jamie Lynn Grumet) breastfeeding
her almost 4-year old kid. This garnered a huge amount of attention
to critics worldwide. A lot of people found this cover shocking
and provoking as they question how TIME Magazine went this
far just to prove a point. Some people find this indecent, scandalous
and ridiculous. Some critics even called Grumet a narcissist for
doing anything just for her to appear on a magazine cover and even
accused her for harassing her child. While others find this normal
and brave.

Recently,
a photo of two military women nursing their babies became viral and
caused an uproar. The image which was by photographer Brynja
Sigurdardottir as a part of the Mom2Mom Breastfeeding Campaign,
showed Terran Echegoyen-McCabe and Christina Luna, members of
the Air National Guard based out of Fairchild Air Force Base in
Spokane, Wash., breastfeeding their children while in uniform. A lot
of people say that this is such a disgrace and very unprofessional.
They even claimed that the issue was the improper usage of the
military uniform and not the breastfeeding.

However,
as far as my knowledge scoped, There
are NO polices or regulations in any of the military branches that
either approve OR disapprove of breastfeeding in uniform. In
fact, U.S. law states that a woman may breastfeed her
child at any location in a Federal building or on Federal property.
And there is no restriction on the dress code or
what-so-ever.
In
my opinion, i find breastfeeding really beautiful and noble. Mothers
should be proud on how much they sacrifice just to feed their kid.
With that, i think there is no reason why mothers should be ashamed
about it or to keep it from the public. And besides, i think there is
nothing indecent, scandalous, improper or disgraceful in nourishing
your child.
I
want to hear your opinions guys. Should breastfeeding be banned in
public? Comment Below.
