Food Trip to the Max's

When it comes to fried chicken, nothing beats the best tasting and original chicken from Max's. For several years now, Max's is known for satisfying hungry foodies from all over Philippines and even abroad with branches now at the United States and still growing. Truly, as of what the PR Manager of Max's, Mr. Bobby Simborio, has said, Max's is definitely a brand that all Filipinos should be proud of. it's because of it's original and heir-loomed concept which crossed generations that truly fitted the world-class market.

Last October 2 at the Max's Restaurant at Abreeza Mall of Davao, the food aficionados from Davao Bloggers was for a big treat as Max's launches it's newest variant of "4Sharing Meals". For only 899pesos, you and three of your family or friends can enjoy the Max's sarap-to-the-bones classic whole chicken plus a choice of two of the newest beef dishes that will perfectly compliment it. First is one of Filipino's homegrown Beef Caldereta with ,of course, a twist from Max's. Next is probably one of my favorites, Ma's Adobong Baka sa Gata. A classic made quirky dish that will surely tickle your tastebuds. The 4Sharing meals comes with 4 servings of rice and iced tea.

To complete the Caldereta and Adobo experience, a puzzle game was played by DB trying to complete a poster of Max's two newest attraction. And of course, my team effortlessly won. (twice)
For winning the puzzle game, the winning team gets to go back at Max's for a treat

But hey, did you know that when you order a whole Max's chicken for chicken, it will only cost you 299pesos? (original price is 372pesos.) Plus, you will get to to go home with a bottle of their special and original Max's ketchup. Now that's practical!

Watch out for the opening of Max's 2nd Davao City branch! it will be on November 9, 2012 at SM Lanang Premiere (2nd Floor Sky Garden).

Call Her Carly (The Call Me Maybe Phenomenon)

Let's all admit it. the song is kinda catchy. And it goes on and on over the radio for some time now. And funny how this song just emerged out of nowhere!

Well, not really out of nowhere. Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Mission, British Columbia. She placed third at the 5th season of Canadian Idol. She released her first album back in 2008 called "Tug of War" which did well in the Canadian billboards. And just recently, she released her 2nd album named "Curiosity" with its carrier single (wouldn't you know it) "Call Me Maybe".

The song is so catchy that celebrities, models, and even athletes are so fascinated with it that they even made lip sync covers of it which spread viral like a really bad flu over the world wide web.

Well, here are some of my favorites of such:

And it did not just stopped there. Various Youtube stars also made their own version of this soon to anthem. And here are few of those highest hitting ones.

Well, that's a crazy amount of attention for just a song. I bet Carly still has a lot from where it came from and i will be the first in the line to hear that.

PS: Im still waiting for the time when will Carly really gives out her number.

With it's dedication to service, the Cross Aiders of Christ has received so much recognition including the Gawad Pedro's Most Improved Club for two years and should be greatly applauded with it's huge number of outstanding community projects.

Style Origin: Mensweek on Abreeza

Done are the days where the dudes are just glad to have their good old jeans and plain tees. Keeping track with the fast evolving world of fashion is the newest generation of Men. And since style begins at Ayala, the company redefined and elevated the retail experience through a series of fashion events touring all over the Ayala Malls in the Philippines, with the help of Philippine Star and Tiger 22.

I had the opportunity to have a front seat experience of the said dynamic show at the Abreeza Mall of Davao. My eyes feasted with the various men's wear available at the mall which goes from casual to formal. Featured brands includes Armenia, Native, Penguin, Bauhaus, Girbaud, Treton and Giordano.

Here are some snapshots from the said event courtesy of Ashley Alvarez (http://simplyashleyalvarez.blogspot.com/)

Kapamilya Star Rayver Cruz opened the show wearing a laid-back black outfit covered with black and grey blazer.

Armenia featured very sleek yet wearable formal wears sporting Barong Tagalog as an inspiration
Ellesse dared to cross the boundaries between casual and street wear, and yes, they were successful.

Native brought a lot of color along the runway with a variety of playful hues.

The laid-back style of Penguin reflected the style that is mostly preferred by dudes nowadays which they kinda spiced-up with juicy colors.

In the show, they also featured three local fashion which are exquisitely talented and they have their world-class works to prove it. They are Gian Romero, Bang Pineda and Ronan Opina.

Gian Romano showcased a the perfect combination of leather and cotton in his very comfy looking jackets which he smartly paired up with high kickin boots.

Who says black and orange doesn't look good together? Bamg Pineda don't really think so. With his blazers that i could really say BLAZING with its interesting cuts to his not-so-casual casual wear gorgeously filled with studs and mirrors.

Ronan Opina redefined the standard of formal wear with this collection featuring earthy hues and interesting choice of fabrics.

And of course my friends and i had a real blast with this event. Hopefully we could get the chance to attend some more of such.

CAC friends: Ashley, Stephanie, Danj, Me and Maizy

My Rating for this event? 5 fashionable stars!
See you at my next adventure.

The Thing About Boobies

As a nurse, it was always a responsibility to encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies. Breastfeeding is the most practical way to give nourishment to your kid. it has a lot of benefits such as strengthening the immune system of the baby and provides bonding to the mother and child. Plus, it's for free! And there's a lot more. Believe me i can provide you a gazillion of it coz i used to memorize all of it in college.

On May of 2012, TIME Magazine released a Mother's day special issue. On the cover featured a mother (Jamie Lynn Grumet) breastfeeding her almost 4-year old kid. This garnered a huge amount of attention to critics worldwide. A lot of people found this cover shocking and provoking as they question how TIME Magazine went this far just to prove a point. Some people find this indecent, scandalous and ridiculous. Some critics even called Grumet a narcissist for doing anything just for her to appear on a magazine cover and even accused her for harassing her child. While others find this normal and brave.

Recently, a photo of two military women nursing their babies became viral and caused an uproar. The image which was by photographer Brynja Sigurdardottir as a part of the Mom2Mom Breastfeeding Campaign, showed Terran Echegoyen-McCabe and Christina Luna, members of the Air National Guard based out of Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash., breastfeeding their children while in uniform. A lot of people say that this is such a disgrace and very unprofessional. They even claimed that the issue was the improper usage of the military uniform and not the breastfeeding.

http://blogs.babble.com/strollerderby/2012/05/31/photo-of-military-moms-breastfeeding-causes-controversy-although-im-not-sure-why/

However, as far as my knowledge scoped, There are NO polices or regulations in any of the military branches that either approve OR disapprove of breastfeeding in uniform. In fact, U.S. law states that a woman may breastfeed her child at any location in a Federal building or on Federal property. And there is no restriction on the dress code or what-so-ever.

In my opinion, i find breastfeeding really beautiful and noble. Mothers should be proud on how much they sacrifice just to feed their kid. With that, i think there is no reason why mothers should be ashamed about it or to keep it from the public. And besides, i think there is nothing indecent, scandalous, improper or disgraceful in nourishing your child.

I want to hear your opinions guys. Should breastfeeding be banned in public? Comment Below.

Walter Quijada's Summer End Fashion Show

"Dreams do come true" a famous phrase from the ultimate Anne-bisyosa, Anne Curtis always says. And indeed it does. Fashion Designer Walter Quijada became a Fairy god-mother for a night making precious fantasies into a reality.
The show took place last May 23, 2012 at CAP Auditorium.

Personally, i never expected the show would turn out to be such. I had the opportunity to witness one of Walter's earlier fashion show (Summer Solstice held in Station 91, March 2012) and comparisons are inevitable. It was unusual to see the auditorium filled with family and friends of models. It was fun!

The show started with a quote from Genesis: At the beginning there was darkness" (or something like that). Then came out veiled ladies (which kind of reminded me of Morticia Adams of Adams Family) wearing exquisite dresses in black. I really admire the creativity in starting the show so dark yet divine and how it transcended into something lively, playful and full of colors.

The first part of the show consists of outfits of colorful shades. Most of the clothes has simple yet unique cuts and structure suitable for everyday wear. It has a relaxing vibe appropriate for that last minute summer splash or just having fun in the sun just before the rainy season begins.

The second part was filled with formal wears and bridal collection with excellently tailored structures. The cuts and details surely contributed to the elegance of the whole look of the collection.

But what captured my interest are the models wearing the collection. They aren't the usual models that I've seen  in previous fashion shows I've attended to (and believe me when i say I've been to a lot). i see the adversities and uniqueness of these models that i don't usually see walking in the regular runway. I've also seen the potentials with their passion and flare which are rare-finds these days. Surely, they still could use some improvement and still can blossom to their best. yet, they are still fresh and young so there's no need to rush.

I look forward in attending shows like such!

My Rating: 3 inspiring stars!
